JourneyDance is a dynamic conscious dance form that combines freestyle and structured movement to inspire you to get out of your mind and into your body. The JourneyDance Flow leads participants on a ritual journey of physical and emotional transformation. Through breath, sweat, and expression, you gain a palpable experience of yourself as pure powerful energy.

Weaving simple guided movement sequences with freeform expressive movement, JourneyDance™ reconnects us with our innate state of joyous well-being. Our minds become more clear and positive and our bodies become more supple, energized, and empowered.  Animated by soulful and evocative world music, we dance through an imaginative, shamanic, and transformational journey to self-acceptance.

We embody through grounding movement, feeling the surface area of our physical bodies in contact with the earth.
We awaken as we unleash energy and expand our awareness.
We enliven our funky playfulness to connect with other movers in community.
We explore our inner realms, diving into our ocean of emotion to tell our story to the dance floor.
We empower each other to liberate and cleanse our bodies and minds with sweat and breath.
We elevate our vibration and embody our hearts.

As we journey together, we co-create a sacred hypnotic container, encounter our bliss, and reconnect with All That Is.  No co-ordination, flexibility, or prior dance experience is necessary. Appropriate for all ages, body sizes, and abilities!

Over this weekend we will dance and sing, connect with nature and our authenticity, explore our energetic fields, and practice embodiment techniques.   Our gracious hosts invite us to join their regular yoga and meditation practices and will feed us three scrumptious vegetarian meals each day.

About the Trainer

Originally from Montreal, QC and Northampton, MA, Root Cuthbertson studied ethnomusicology, modern dance, and world religions at Oberlin College and became a Certified JourneyDance Facilitator in 2004.  From 2005-2012 he worked closely with Toni Bergins as JourneyDance Training and Membership Director, attending and co-leading weeklong and weekend events throughout North America and the Caribbean at conferences and retreat centers like Kripalu, Omega, & Esalen.  In 2013 he began an ecovillage pilgrimage, and in 2015 started leading dances and classes in Findhorn, Scotland, his current base.  Curious about the intersection of creativity, community, and healing, Root is investigating culture repair, nature connection, local organic food systems and good storytelling, while writing an action-adventure science-fiction novel set in a utopian psychic society.

Ananda Gaorii Ashram, Farm and Learning Center is located on 13 hectares of farmland near Vig, about an hour from Copenhagen. We have a small orchard, vegetable garden, organic bakery, meditation hall, dining hall and dormitories for men and women.
